About
My name is Taylah King
Taylah King, 32 originally from Melbourne Australia describes her life so far as a "wild ride." Being met with many challenging life circumstances she has always used music + dance as a way to move through the pain.
Taylah grew up always listening to music through headphones on an old disc man and then ipod. Dancing on the verandah at home everyday, catching the buses to school, walking the corridors of highschool~ she always had her headphones in.If she was out at a social gathering you would find her with a speaker close to her ear getting as close to the music as she could. For her, this was a way for her to disconnect from the noise of the outside world and to just feel a sense of peace within.
Taylah faced heavy substance abuse battles from the age of 14-28 using alcohol + drugs as a way to escape her feelings. In 2023-2024 after a divorce and Ayahusca experience, Taylah entered into a drugged induced psychosis, disconnected from reality and not sure what was real or not~ she stayed in this state for 2 years. Whilst this was by far the most challenging two years of her life, Taylah now looks at this experience as a deep awakening to her purpose in life and deeper connection to her faith in God.
Throughout this period of time she lost connection to everything. Love, Emotions, Nature, Music + Dance. Taylah made an oath to herself that if she ever got out of the place she found herself, she would chase her dreams and share her dance around the world.
Her pieces evoke emotional depth of places and spaces that we as humans find ourselves sometimes within this life. A mixture of grief, heartbreak, new beginnings, joy, laughter, adventure, creativity, passion and most importantly love.
Taylah connects deeply to her emotions throughout every piece that she performs to connect you to the moment that she is sharing. Her embodied performances are mostly done with silent disco headphones if spaces permit in which she shares her piece and invites others into the experience with headphones also. Taylah also never really knows which songs she will embody due to connecting to real life moment to moment sensations and experiences within her body.
It is her vision to share her movement around the world + help those facing mental health + substance abuse battles believe that it is possible to shine again. Taylah also offers womens embodiment work who may be wanting to find the confidence within their own skin and may be rebuilding their life. You can find more information about this on the 1:1 Embodiment section throughout this website.
This is only the beginning for Taylah as she shares her embodied movement around the globe.
